Carson Payne made an immediate impact during his two seasons at Clark, earning All-NWAACC West Region Second Team honors both years. As a sophomore, he averaged 18.9 points per game and scored 20 or more points in 14 games—including a 36-point performance against Green River.

Payne continued his success at Central Washington University, where he led the Wildcats to two NCAA Division II national tournament berths and compiled a 45-12 win-loss record. He finished his career as the 20th all-time leading scorer at CWU with 951 points, ranking fourth among two-year players. Notable accolades include:

• Career scoring average of 16.7 ppg (6th all-time at CWU)

• Career field goal percentage of 55.2% (5th all-time)

• School record 50.9% three-point shooting in a single season

• MVP of the 1999 PacWest Conference Tournament

• Named to multiple All-American and All-Region teams

• Served as team captain during his senior season
