Clark Women's TF/XC sign Sydnee Boothby out of Washougal

VANCOUVER, Wash. - Clark Women's Cross Country and Track & Field welcome Sydnee Boothby from Washougal High School.

With a 5K PR of 18:24 this fall in cross country, Boothby has established herself as one of the favorites to win the 2A State Championship in Pasco this weekend, and has proven she can run with the best in any classification. She has already collected the individual league and district cross championships on her way to leading her team to both titles as well. When asked to describe Sydnee, her high school coach Tracey Stinchfield said "Sydnee is an incredibly hard worker who tackles every workout with passion and is always eager to do more. Her focus is amazing and she's become a great teammate who finishes her race and then takes time to meet the JV runners on their starting line to make sure they are ready, and to cheer them on! It seems like she has an endless ability to just keep going and will do unbelievable things in college!"

Her success in cross is just one element of her excellence in distance running. Boothby also tripled at the State track meet last spring, where she competed in the 800, 1600, and 3200. Her PRs of 2:19 (800), 5:08 (1600), and 11:38 (3200) put her among the best in the State in all three events. Her dedication and tireless work ethic also translate into her studies, as Boothby is a 4.0 student. She really is the whole package!

Clark head cross country and track and field coach Owen Frasier was obviously very excited about the addition of Sydnee to the XC/TF programs. "What can you say about Sydnee? We've been watching her excel locally for the past four years and have always been impressed with her ability, and even more so, her competitiveness and love for running. We are humbled by her trust in us to choose to come to Clark. She could have gone anywhere. In the history of our program, there has never been an individual women's XC champion. We believe Sydnee has a real shot to be the first."

Sydnee plans on studying computer science at Clark. We look forward to seeing the impact she makes athletically and academically as a part of the Clark community.
