Women's XC/TF sign Stacey Sutton out of La Center, WA

VANCOUVER, Wash. - Clark Women's Cross Country and Track & Field welcome Stacy Sutton from La Center, WA and Battle Ground High School!

When asked why she chose to attend Clark, Stacy said "I will be able to continue being an athlete for two more years with an awesome team while I pursue a degree in the healthcare field."

Stacy is a rare runner who excels in both cross country in the fall as well as the sprints during the spring. Highlighted by a 5K PR of 20:23, Stacy earned 2nd Team All League in the very competitive 4A GSHL by finishing top 10 at the District Championships in cross country. A three time Regional qualifier, Sutton has been a big part of the Tiger program. When asked to describe Stacy, Battle Ground girls cross country coach Patricia Tester was very complimentary of not only Sutton the athlete, but also of her character. "Stacy has always been very coachable. She listens, and when she has questions, she asks them in a polite and respectful way. Then she goes out and does the work to improve. I have been able to rely on her as a captain to lead not only with her words, but also by example with her sportsmanship.."

On the track Stacy performed well in all of the sprints, including PRs of 13.2 in the 100m, 27.3 in the 200m and 1:03 in the 400m. She finished in the top four in both the 100 and 200 meters at the District Championships last spring to qualify for Regionals. Clark head cross country and track and field coach Owen Frasier sees Sutton as a huge part of the culture that they're trying to build. "Stacy is an amazing kid from a great family. When we had them on campus this summer for a visit they were such great people and so easy to talk to. We love that Stacy sees Clark as a springboard to a four year college program. She's a smart kid who understands the processes and the opportunities that a JC program can open up for her; and at a discounted price! She's going to help us create a culture where our athletes are working hard to get to the next level."

We look forward to seeing the impact she makes athletically and academically as a part of the Clark community. We are thrilled to add her to the program.
