VANCOUVER, Wash. - The Penguins are proud to announce that Carter Monda from Vancouver, Washington has chosen to further his education and his baseball career at Clark College where he will compete for the Penguins next season.
Â
"I never had to teach my best hunting dogs. The good ones instinctively knew what to do and they did it better than the rest. Carter Monda can play…..that dog hunts! He plays the game with emotion and with an edge and I can relate to that. I embrace the edge and I look forward to watching him compete with the other talented guys that we have on our roster and with those that are in his recruiting class. I believe he will do great things for us and we will do great things for him. The competitive environment that he is coming into will only make him better and we are excited to watch him compete," Clark College Head Baseball Coach
Mark Magdaleno said.
Â
Monda, 6-4, 200, comes to the Penguins as outfielder and closer.
Â
"Thank you to my family and to Clark College for allowing me to further my baseball career and I am looking forward to getting after it," Monda said.
Â
Monda, who played under Chad Burchett at Evergreen High School earned 9 letters for the Plainsmen. As a freshman Monda was named Second Team All Greater St. Helen's League. Monda would earn First Team All Greater St. Helen's League as a sophomore and junior. After his junior season, Monda was also named First Team All Region. Monda was a three sport athlete at Evergreen where he quarterbacked Evergreen to the playoffs and was named First Team All Greater St. Helen's League. Monda also helped lead the Plainsmen to the playoffs in basketball and earned Second Team All Greater St. Helen's League.
Â
"Carter is the very rare 5 tool layer that coaches are always in search of….he has speed, a great arm, can hit for average, can hit for power, and he has a tremendous glove in the outfield. The sky is the limit for Carter Monda and I fully expect to see him playing on TV in the near future," Evergreen High School Head Baseball Coach Chad Burchett said.
Â
Monda joins the an impressive pool of local players who are part of the roster that Magdaleno has recruited.
