Clark Rallies Late but Falls to Clackamas, 6-4

VANCOUVER, Wash. - Despite a late push, Clark dropped a 6-4 decision to Clackamas on Friday afternoon at Kindsfather Field in Vancouver.

Clark (0-5) showed resilience down the stretch, plating three runs in the bottom of the ninth to bring the tying run to the plate before Clackamas secured the final out.

Late-Inning Spark

Trailing 6-1 entering the ninth, Clark mounted its strongest offensive inning of the day. Reece Fisher sparked the rally with a pinch-hit single, while Morrie Solam followed with a pinch-hit RBI walk to score Jase Pashales.

After Drew Yount was hit by a pitch to drive in another run, Caden Taylor delivered an RBI single to cap the scoring and cut the deficit to 6-4. Clark loaded the bases in the inning and forced Clackamas to use its closer before the comeback attempt was halted.

Offensive Highlights

Clark collected five hits and worked an impressive 10 walks, consistently putting pressure on the Cougar pitching staff.

  • Taylor: 1-for-6 with an RBI

  • Kaeden Cruse: 1-for-4 with a walk

  • Pashales: 1-for-2, two walks, and a run scored

  • Rylan Taguchi: 1-for-2 with three walks and a run scored

  • Fisher: Pinch-hit single and a run scored

Taguchi's disciplined approach at the plate set the tone, reaching base four times. Pashales also reached three times and helped ignite the ninth-inning rally.

Clark's first run came in the fifth inning when Taddeo Ituarte scored on a balk after singles from Pashales and Taguchi put runners in scoring position.

Pitching Effort

Cruse took the loss, allowing two runs (one earned) over two innings with two strikeouts.

Out of the bullpen:

  • Garrett Maunu threw three innings, striking out one.

  • Erik Ronquist worked two innings and limited damage despite three hit batters.

  • Kenneth Hall closed with two scoreless innings, striking out two and allowing no hits.

Clark pitchers combined for six strikeouts over nine innings.

The Difference

Clackamas capitalized on defensive miscues, scoring multiple unearned runs. Clark committed four errors on the afternoon, which proved costly in a tight contest.

Though the final score favored the visitors, Clark's persistence in the ninth inning demonstrated growth and fight as the team continues to look for its first win of the season.

Clark returns to action looking to build on the momentum created in the late rally.
