Vancouver, WA -- Clark women's basketball started the game down 10-0 against Peninsula. The Penguins responded after a quick timeout and went on a 42-8 run to close out the first half defeating the Pirates, 83-44 in Second Round action of the 2013 NWAACC Crossover Tournament on Sat., Dec. 21 at the O'Connell Center. The win is the fifth in a row for Clark and it improves the Penguins overall record to 7-2.
Five players in double figures were led by Nikki Bond and
Sarah McKee with 16 points each.
Brooke Bowen scored 11 points to go with eight rebounds,
Shantell Jackson had 13 points,
Taylor Howlett had 12 points and
Micaela Bitanga had seven assist and two steals.
Gabi Fenumiai led the Pirates in scoring with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Madison Pilster added 11 points.
Clark held the Pirates total FG at 26.0% and total 3PT FG at 27.0%
Next Game: Clark will play tomorrow at 4:00 PM, hosting Blue Mountain in the Championship games of the Clark NWAACC Crossover Tournament.
Game One:
Centralia 73 def. Edmonds 67 – Player of the game, Centralia's Courtney Kaupu scored 20 points and four rebounds. She also added two assist and two steals. Karina Gee had 13 points, four rebounds and four assist. For Edmonds, Gabby Redwine had 24 points, followed by Ellie Greene with 19 points and seven rebounds and Aniise Orozco with 12 points and seven steals.
Game Two:
Wenatchee Valley 67 def. Mt. Hood 46 – Player of the Game, Wenatchee Valley's Bekah Waterhouse had 13 points with two rebounds. Darian Gasseling added 10 points and two assist. For Mt. Hood, Alyssa Seever had 13 points and no turnovers and Hannah Wahlers chipped in with 10 points.
Game Three:
Blue Mountain 81 def. Clackamas 79 OT – Player of the game, Blue Mountain's Jasmine Poumele went 9-12 from the field for 19 points and 12 rebounds. Danah Haley had 14 points and seven rebounds. For Clackamas, Laci Effenberger had 16 points, 11 assist and five steals. Lauren Lindley had 16 points and Jasmine Gibbs-Brown had 11 points and six rebounds.
