Sophomores Shine In Their Last Home Game

PORTLAND, Ore. — In a game defined by offensive firepower and relentless pace, Clark College came up short Saturday, falling 104-93 to Umpqua Community College despite a pair of 30-point performances from the Penguins' stars.

Clark showcased its scoring depth and efficiency at the free-throw line, but Umpqua's balanced attack and dominance on the glass proved to be the difference in the NWAC matchup.

Mia Hicks-Oliver delivered one of her strongest performances of the season, pouring in 31 points while attacking the rim with consistency. The sophomore guard went 13-for-14 from the free-throw line and added three assists in 38 minutes of action.

Matching her output was post presence Emily Peabody, who also scored 31 points and recorded a double-double. Peabody went 10-of-22 from the field and a perfect 10-of-10 at the line while pulling down a team-high 10 rebounds in a full 40-minute effort.

Reaiah Hall added 16 points, knocking down four three-pointers to keep the Penguins within striking distance. Clark shot 85.7 percent from the free-throw line as a team (24-of-28), helping offset a tough shooting night from beyond the arc (34.6 percent).

Umpqua countered with five players in double figures and shot an efficient 47 percent from the field, including 44 percent from three-point range.

The Riverhawks' 19 offensive rebounds generated second-chance opportunities that allowed them to maintain separation during key stretches of the second half.

Clark battled throughout and kept pace offensively, but turnovers and rebounding gaps limited opportunities to complete the comeback.

The Penguins conclude their season at 10-19, 6-10 in the South Region in their third season under Coach Jesse Norris.
