COOS BAY, Ore. — Despite a stronger offensive showing and multiple standout individual performances, Clark College couldn't break through in the nightcap, falling 8–0 to Southwestern Oregon Community College to close out Tuesday's doubleheader.
After managing just one hit in the opener, Clark's bats came alive in Game Two, collecting six hits against Lakers starter Izzy Enright. Rylee Purdom led the way with a perfect 3-for-3 performance, including a pair of doubles, while Madison Logan, Delaney Bollman, and Sophia Lawrence each added a hit.
Clark consistently put the ball in play and applied pressure throughout the lineup, but timely hits proved elusive. The Penguins stranded seven runners and were unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities against Enright, who kept Clark off the scoreboard despite the increased traffic.
In the circle, Mylee Burrows worked into the fifth inning and kept the game within reach early. Southwestern Oregon scratched across a run in the first before the contest turned in the fourth inning.
The Lakers broke things open with a six-run frame, stringing together key hits including a two-run single from Tyla Aragon, a two-run triple by Hadley Hudson, and a two-run home run off the bat of Hunter Salausa-Galletes.
Clark continued to battle defensively and showed resilience late, with Bollman coming on in relief to record the final outs of the game.
While the scoreboard again favored Southwestern Oregon, the Penguins showed clear adjustments from Game One—improving their offensive output and generating multiple scoring chances. The effort from Purdom and the lineup's ability to produce hits offered a positive takeaway as Clark continues to build consistency moving forward.
