Penguins Earn a Huge Win Over Centralia

CENTRALIA, WA - Clark College bounced back in a big way to earn a split on the road against Centralia College on May 1, responding to a tough opener with a come-from-behind 6–4 win in Game 2.

After being held hitless in a 14–0 run-rule loss earlier in the day, the Penguins flipped the script behind timely hitting and a dominant sixth inning.

Trailing 1–0 entering the fifth, Clark finally broke through when Jessica Tomberlin delivered a sacrifice fly to tie the game. That momentum carried into a decisive sixth inning, where the Penguins erupted for five runs.

Dajah Paz started the rally with an RBI double, but the biggest swing came from Rylee Purdom, who launched a three-run home run to put Clark firmly in control. An additional run later in the inning stretched the lead to 6–1.

Purdom finished with three RBIs, while Paz added two hits and an RBI. Clark totaled seven hits but made them count in key moments after struggling offensively in the opener.

In the circle, Mylee Burrows delivered a workhorse performance, tossing six innings to earn the win while striking out five. She worked through traffic throughout the game and limited the damage to keep Clark in position for the comeback. Kairi Rowand closed out the final inning to secure the victory.

Centralia threatened in the sixth, scoring three runs to cut the lead to 6–4, but Clark held firm down the stretch.

The win showcased Clark's resilience, quickly turning the page after a difficult first game and responding with one of its stronger offensive innings of the season. The split provided a momentum boost heading into the following day's doubleheader, where the Penguins continued to show flashes of offensive production.
