VANCOUVER, WA - Clark College split its doubleheader with Grays Harbor on May 2 at Raines Field, riding a big inning to win the opener before falling just short in a late-inning comeback battle in Game 2.
In the first game, Clark (10-33, 6-21) used a five-run third inning to surge past Grays Harbor for a 7–5 victory. After trailing early, the Penguins capitalized on defensive miscues and timely hitting to seize control.
Madison Logan started the rally with an RBI single, and
Zoey Mikkelsen followed with a two-run knock as Clark took advantage of multiple errors in the frame.
Mikkelsen paced the offense, finishing 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored, while
Rylee Purdom added two hits.
Tessa Treesh contributed both at the plate and in the circle, earning the win after allowing just two earned runs over 5.1 innings.
Mylee Burrows closed the door with 1.2 innings of hitless relief to secure the save.
Grays Harbor outhit Clark 10–7 in the opener but was hurt by three errors, which proved decisive in the Penguins' five-run third.
Game 2 saw Clark jump out quickly before Grays Harbor responded late to claim a 6–4 win. The Penguins built a 4–1 lead behind a strong start and a big swing from Mikkelsen, who launched a two-run home run in the third inning. She finished with three RBIs, while Purdom continued her hot day at the plate with three hits and two runs scored.

Delaney Bollman kept Grays Harbor in check through five innings, but momentum shifted in the sixth. Grays Harbor erupted for four runs in the frame, highlighted by a two-run home run from Keira White that flipped the score and put the visitors ahead 5–4.
The Chokers added an insurance run in the seventh, and despite nine hits from Clark, the Penguins were unable to respond late.
Across the doubleheader, Mikkelsen stood out as a key contributor for Clark, driving in five runs over the two games, while Purdom consistently set the table atop the lineup. Despite the split, Clark showed resilience throughout the day, delivering timely offense in the opener and battling until the final out in Game 2.
