Clark Outscores Grays Harbor 20-2 for Doubleheader Sweep

HOQUIAM, WA - Clark College put together a complete and commanding performance from start to finish Friday at Olympic Stadium, sweeping a doubleheader against Grays Harbor by a combined score of 20–2.
The Penguins set the tone immediately in Game 1, manufacturing a run in the opening inning when Drew Yount doubled and later scored on a sacrifice fly from Taddeo Ituarte. That early edge quickly grew as Clark consistently applied pressure with disciplined at-bats and aggressive baserunning.

They added another run in the second before breaking the game open in the fourth. Taking advantage of walks, hit batters, and defensive miscues, Clark plated three runs in the inning to extend the lead to 5–0. Caleb Dale and Jase Pashales delivered key contributions throughout the middle innings, while Yount continued to spark the offense at the top of the lineup.

Grays Harbor managed its only run of the opener in the fourth, but Clark responded immediately. Dale came through with a two-RBI single in the fifth, and the Penguins kept adding on with single runs in the sixth and a three-run surge in the seventh. Taddeo Ituarte capped that inning with a two-RBI play as Clark pulled away for an 11–1 victory.

On the mound, Rylan Taguchi led the way in Game 1, limiting damage and working through traffic to keep Grays Harbor from mounting any sustained threat.
If the first game established control, the second confirmed it.

Clark once again struck early, scoring twice in the first inning of Game 2 behind RBI doubles from Pashales and Kobin Mullins. The Penguins kept the pressure on in the second when Caden Taylor lined a two-run single to make it 4–0, continuing his standout day at the plate.

The offense remained steady rather than explosive, adding single runs in the third and fourth innings. Dale drove in a run in the third, and Ituarte followed with a sacrifice fly in the fourth as Clark built a 6–0 advantage.

Meanwhile, Kaeden Cruse dominated on the mound in the nightcap. The right-hander struck out 11 over six strong innings, allowing just two hits and one run while keeping Grays Harbor off balance all game long.

Grays Harbor finally broke through with a run in the seventh, but Clark quickly answered in the eighth. Taylor delivered again with a two-RBI double, and Ituarte added another RBI to extend the lead to 9–1.

Cole Robinson handled the final three innings to secure the save and complete the sweep.

Clark finished with 20 runs on the day, fueled by timely hitting throughout the lineup. Yount reached base consistently and scored multiple runs, Taylor drove in four in Game 2, and Dale contributed key hits in both contests. Just as importantly, the pitching staff combined to limit Grays Harbor to only two runs across 17 innings.

From the first pitch of Game 1 to the final out of Game 2, Clark controlled every aspect—offense, defense, and pitching—in a decisive doubleheader sweep.
