VANCOUVER, Wash. - The Clark College Athletic Department is currently hiring for a Head Women's Basketball Coach.
Head Women's Basketball Coach – Clark College
Under the supervision of the Director of Athletics, the Head Women's Basketball Coach provides leadership and oversight for all aspects of the Clark College women's basketball program. This part-time position operates within the Clark College Athletic Department and must comply with all Clark College policies and the rules and regulations of the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC).

The Head Coach reports directly to the Director of Athletics and oversees the women's basketball program within the Student Affairs division and in collaboration with the Associated Students of Clark College.
The position requires year-round engagement in program development, including recruiting, athlete development, and administrative responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership
- Provide overall leadership and direction for the women's basketball program.
- Develop and maintain a positive team culture emphasizing academic success, sportsmanship, and personal development.
- Plan and conduct practices, conditioning sessions, and skill development activities.
- Prepare athletes and teams for competition through strategic planning and game preparation.
- Ensure compliance with Clark College policies and NWAC rules and regulations.
Recruiting
- Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes in accordance with NWAC recruiting guidelines.
- Communicate clearly with recruits regarding academic expectations and the financial costs associated with attending Clark College.
- Travel to high school games, tournaments, and recruiting events to evaluate prospective athletes.
- Collaborate with the athletic department in administering Letters of Intent (LOI).
- Manage scholarship allocations within NWAC limits and available athletic funding.
- Maintain year-round recruiting efforts to build and sustain competitive rosters.
Student-Athlete Eligibility & Academic Support
- Maintain thorough knowledge of NWAC eligibility rules and updates.
- Ensure all student-athletes meet eligibility requirements prior to participation.
- Work with the Athletic Department and campus staff to monitor academic progress.
- Inform athletes of eligibility regulations related to transfers, amateur status, participation limits, and academic standing.
- Assist student-athletes with transferring to four-year institutions when appropriate, including creating highlight materials and facilitating connections with college programs.
Competition & Practice Management
- Design and implement effective daily practice plans including:
- Conditioning
- Skill development
- Offensive and defensive systems
- Game situations
- Scout opponents and develop strategic game plans.
- Prepare scouting reports and review strategies with athletes.
Scheduling & Travel
- Coordinate with the Athletic Department to schedule contests in alignment with NWAC conference schedules.
- Supervise team travel and ensure appropriate conduct during all trips.
- Complete required travel documentation and administer travel per diem.
- Obtain and maintain required college driver/van certification when transporting teams.
Program Administration
- Ensure all student-athletes complete required documentation prior to participation, including:
- Physical exams
- Health forms
- NWAC questionnaires
- Assumption of risk forms
- Transfer documentation (when applicable)
- Maintain accurate rosters and submit required documentation to the athletic office.
- Order and manage team equipment, uniforms, and practice gear within budget.
- Collaborate with athletic training staff to support the health and safety of student-athletes.
- Complete required college training programs and certifications.
Community Engagement & Program Development
- Promote the program through public relations and community engagement activities.
- Encourage team participation in community service initiatives.
- Participate in fundraising activities consistent with college and NWAC regulations.
- Serve on NWAC committees when appointed.
- Support departmental initiatives and collaborate with other athletic programs.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of NWAC rules and regulations.
- Ability to develop effective practice plans and competitive game strategies.
- Strong leadership and motivational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with student-athletes, staff, administrators, and community members.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
Work Schedule & Availability
- Availability to attend practices and competitions during weekday afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
- Ability to travel for recruiting events and team competitions.
Term of Employment/Salary
- 12-month appointment
- $11,000 stipend paid over 12 months
