PORTLAND - Clark College used balanced scoring, defensive pressure, and timely runs to earn a 70–55 victory over Portland, pulling away in the second half to secure the home win.
The Penguins were led by a strong inside-out attack from Emily Peabody and Ashley Serna, who scored 18 points apiece. Peabody was efficient on both ends, shooting 7-of-13 from the field and a perfect 3-of-3 at the free-throw line, while Serna went 9-of-13, consistently finishing through contact to anchor Clark's offense.
Yazmin Rios added another steady presence with 15 points, knocking down two three-pointers and contributing four assists and three steals as Clark controlled the tempo. Mia Hicks-Oliver finished with 10 points, along with five rebounds, three assists, and three steals, helping set the tone defensively from the opening tip.
Clark's defense proved to be the difference, holding Portland to just 35.5% shooting and 1-of-9 from beyond the arc. The Penguins forced 21 turnovers, turning pressure into transition opportunities that gradually stretched the lead.
Off the bench, April Cruz provided an energy boost with five points, three assists, and three steals, while Alex Rosenbaum chipped in four points and battled on the glass. Clark also won key stretches despite struggling at the free-throw line, using ball movement and defensive intensity to offset missed opportunities.
Portland was paced by Bregan Ruhland's 13 points and Udoka Amadi's 10 points and 11 rebounds, but Clark's ability to string together stops and capitalize offensively proved decisive.
With the win, Clark continued to build momentum, showcasing depth, defensive toughness, and balanced scoring in a convincing conference performance.
