Penguins Playoff Push Gets Big Boost With Win Over Lane

PORTLAND - Clark College leaned on poise at the free-throw line and dominance on the glass to secure an 81-76 victory over Lane in a tightly contested match up.

With the game hanging in the balance down the stretch, Clark's execution made the difference. The Penguins shot an impressive 18-of-22 (81.8%) from the free-throw line and controlled the boards 36-29, including 10 offensive rebounds that led to key second-chance opportunities.

Ari Richardson led the way with a game-high 25 points, attacking the rim and converting a perfect 11-of-11 from the stripe. The sophomore guard added seven rebounds and five assists in a steady, all-around performance, repeatedly calming the offense in critical moments.

Clark also received a major boost from Micah Gentry, who knocked down five three-pointers on his way to 19 points. His perimeter shooting stretched Lane's defense and opened driving lanes throughout the night. Tristan Pratt matched Gentry with 19 points of his own, shooting 7-of-15 from the field and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc while adding six rebounds.

Inside, Noah Tostovrsnik delivered a commanding performance in the paint. The forward pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds — nine on the defensive end — while contributing 12 points and two blocks. His presence around the rim limited Lane's second chances and helped Clark close out possessions.

Lane kept the pressure on behind balanced scoring, with four players in double figures. Noah Salmon led Lane with 14 points, while Brody Roth added 13 and Steven Adams chipped in 10. The Titans shot a solid 47.6% from the field and 40% from three-point range, but struggled at the foul line, converting just 8-of-13 free throws — a five-point gap that ultimately proved costly in a five-point game.

Clark's ball movement (12 assists) and timely defense also played a role. Despite committing 14 turnovers, the Penguins managed key stops in the final minutes and capitalized on their opportunities at the line to seal the win.

The victory showcased Clark College's resilience and balance, with four starters scoring in double figures and the team responding each time Lane threatened to take control. With momentum building, Clark continues to demonstrate it can win tight games through discipline, rebounding, and clutch free-throw shooting.
