Clark College delivered a balanced offensive performance and a strong defensive finish to secure an 87–82 win over Portland, shooting nearly 50 percent from the field and knocking down 18 of 19 free throws to close out the victory.
Ari Richardson led all scorers with a game-high 29 points, putting together an efficient night by shooting 9 of 14 from the field, 3 of 6 from beyond the arc, and a perfect 8 for 8 at the free-throw line. Richardson's scoring punch set the tone for the Penguins throughout the game, particularly during key stretches when Portland threatened to pull even.
Tristan Pratt added 18 points on 6-of-13 shooting and was flawless at the line (5 for 5), while Noah Tostovrsnik recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Tostovrsnik anchored the paint defensively as well, blocking three shots and helping Clark limit second-chance opportunities down the stretch.
Clark's depth proved pivotal, with Marcell Roberts contributing 13 points and eight rebounds off the bench. Micah Gentry chipped in seven points and dished out a team-high seven assists, helping the Penguins move the ball efficiently and finish with 16 assists on 30 made baskets.
The Penguins' shooting efficiency was a major difference in the contest, as Clark shot 49.2 percent from the field and 45 percent from three-point range. At the free-throw line, Clark was nearly automatic, converting 94.7 percent of its attempts, a crucial factor in preserving the lead late.
Portland was led by Jackson Leach's 24 points, but Clark's ability to limit turnovers and control the glass—finishing with 30 rebounds—allowed the Penguins to withstand Portland's runs and seal the win at the stripe.
With the victory, Clark College showcased its offensive balance, composure in late-game situations, and ability to capitalize at the free-throw line, turning in a complete performance against a competitive Portland squad. With the win, they improve to 10-5 overall and 2-0 in South Region play.
