ROSEBURG, OR - Clark College battled to the final horn but came up just short in a 65–60 loss to Umpqua, despite strong defensive effort and key individual performances.
The Penguins were led by Emily Peabody, who scored a team-high 20 points and attacked the basket consistently throughout the game. Peabody also added five rebounds and three steals while logging 36 minutes.
Yazmin Rios provided a major perimeter spark, knocking down five three-pointers on her way to 19 points. Rios played all 40 minutes and came up with three steals and a block, helping Clark stay within striking distance.
In the paint, Mia Hicks-Oliver delivered a gritty performance, pulling down a game-high 12 rebounds, including seven offensive boards, to go along with eight points, two steals, and a block. Reaiah Hall contributed eight points, seven rebounds, and four assists, providing steady play on both ends of the floor.
Clark's defense forced 16 Umpqua turnovers and recorded 11 steals, keeping the Penguins in the game despite shooting challenges. The Penguins also held Umpqua to just 16.7 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
Umpqua was paced by Kaelyn Shoemaker, who posted 18 points and 16 rebounds, while Giselle Muffett added 15 points. The Riverhawks' advantage on the glass proved decisive, as they outrebounded Clark 53–35.
Clark College showed resilience down the stretch, cutting the deficit to one possession late, but Umpqua's rebounding and timely execution sealed the outcome. The Penguins will look to build on the defensive intensity and perimeter production as they move forward in conference play.
