GRESHAM, Ore. — The Clark College women's basketball team delivered a strong defensive effort Wednesday afternoon, pulling away in the second half for a 59–45 NWAC victory over Mt. Hood.
Clark set the tone early, taking control in the first quarter and building a 33–22 advantage by halftime. The Penguins continued to apply pressure defensively after the break, holding Mt. Hood to just six points in the third quarter to create separation.
Clark outscored the Saints in three of the four quarters and limited Mt. Hood to 45 points on the day, showcasing disciplined team defense and consistent rebounding. The Penguins closed the game with an 11–point fourth quarter, maintaining composure and control down the stretch.
Offensively, Clark relied on balanced production and ball movement, turning defensive stops into transition opportunities. The Penguins also controlled the tempo throughout the game, preventing Mt. Hood from finding sustained rhythm.
With the win, Clark improves to 7–10 overall and 3–1 in NWAC play, continuing a strong start to conference action.
Clark returns to the court this weekend as they travel to Umpqua (11-5, 2-1) to take on the Riverhawks.
