KENT, Wash. – Clark College women's soccer continued its strong start to conference play with a 3–1 road victory over Green River on Saturday evening at Wilson Playfields.
The Penguins wasted no time striking first as Bella Rodriguez scored just two minutes into the match to put Clark on the board early. Green River battled back and found the equalizer in the 32nd minute when Samantha Escamilla broke through to tie the score at 1–1 heading into halftime. Clark took control after the break. In the 62nd minute, Rodriguez buried her second goal of the match, giving the Penguins the lead for good. Less than a minute later, Bellaliis Town doubled the advantage, finishing off a feed from Jaleyah Pitre to make it 3–1.From there, Clark's defense did the rest. Goalkeeper Ella Lulich recorded three saves over nearly 80 minutes of action, while Jessica Garcia-Cruz came on late to help close out the victory.
The Penguins out shot Green River 12–5, generating steady pressure throughout the match. Rodriguez led the way with four shots, while Town, Pitre, and several others contributed offensively to keep the Gators pinned in their own end. With the win, Clark improves its conference record to 3-1-1 and keeps momentum rolling as NWAC play heats up. Up next, they head up to Longview to face West Region rival Lower Columbia on October 1st at 4pm.
