Clark Dominates in Straight-Sets Win Over Pierce

LAKEWOOD, Wash. – The Clark Penguins put together their most complete performance of the young season, sweeping Pierce College in straight sets (25-15, 25-12, 25-11) on Tuesday afternoon at the Health Education Center.

Clark (1-3) was fueled by a dynamic offensive attack and steady defense, never allowing the Raiders to find rhythm. The Penguins hit an efficient .317 as a team while holding Pierce to a negative attack percentage at -.070.

Sophomore outside hitter Alexis Echols was unstoppable at the net, finishing with a match-high 17 kills on .593 hitting to pace Clark's attack. Setter Taylee Wilson ran the offense with precision, dishing out 25 assists to go along with four kills and six digs.

Defensively, libero Emelynn Cecil anchored the back row with a team-best 23 digs, while middle blocker Kylie Miller provided a big presence at the net with three solo blocks and one block assist.

Clark controlled the match from start to finish. After a competitive opening stretch in the first set, the Penguins pulled away behind Echols and Abigail Heberle, who combined for key kills and blocks to give Clark the 25-15 win.

In the second set, Cecil's serving run, which included two aces, helped Clark build a commanding lead. Echols continued to punish the Raiders' defense, while Wilson mixed in quick sets to Miller and Heberle to keep Pierce off balance.

The third set was all Clark, as the Penguins stormed out to an 8-0 lead behind Wilson's serving and multiple kills from Echols. Pierce never recovered, and Clark closed the match emphatically on a kill from Miller.

With the win, Clark picks up its first victory of the season and builds momentum heading into NWAC play.

Clark will face at Edmonds later today at 4:30pm at Pierce College.
