VANCOUVER, Wash. - Clark College Cross Country and Track & Field is excited to announce that Sophomore, Dani Buttrell (Fort Vancouver High School, Vancouver, Washington), has committed to further her academic and athletic career at Evergreen State College. ESC, located in Olympia, Washington, is a program on the rise under new head coach Joel Pearson that is headed for a breakout season in 2025. The addition of Buttrell will be a big help in their quest to make the NAIA National Championships this Fall.

Evergreen is gaining an absolute star in Buttrell. As a Freshman in 2024, Buttrell earned First Team All-Southern Region honors in cross country after running a personal best time of 19:18 to finish second overall. She was a big part of Clark's team Southern Region Championship! At the NWAC Championships two weeks later, Buttrell was named an NWAC All-American and helped Clark to a Runner-Up finish. On the track, Buttrell was an All-American in the steeplechase, running the third fastest time in school history, and also earned All-Conference honors in the 5,000 meters as well.

This year as a Sophomore, it was more accolades for Buttrell. She once again finished second at the Southern Region Championships, this time with a new personal best 5K time of 19:07, as the Penguins took home their second consecutive team championship. Dani capped off her excellent Clark career this spring on the track where she improved to the second fastest steeplechase time in Clark history on her way to earning a second straight All-American honor. Dani showcased her versatility and commitment to the team by also finishing fifth in the 800 meters and seventh in the 5,000 meters to earn NWAC All-Conference in both of those events. Dani leaves Clark as a three-time All-American, four-tim All-Conference athlete, who is also in the Clark all-time top ten for both cross country and track.
