VANCOUVER, Wash. -
Game 1 - It was a rough outing for the Clark College Penguins on Tuesday afternoon, as they dropped a 9–0 contest to a red-hot Southwestern Oregon Lakers squad that brought both firepower and precision to the diamond.
Clark's lone bright spot at the plate came from freshman Ashlynn Runnels, who broke up what would have been a no-hit bid with a sharp double in the second inning. That hit, however, stood as the Penguins' only offensive mark of the day, as SWOC starter Hadley Hudson went the full five innings, striking out seven while issuing no walks in a complete-game one-hitter.
The Lakers struck early and often, putting up three runs in the top of the first and five more in the second to break the game open. Despite solid effort and hustle from Clark's defense, including a heads-up play from Delaney Bollman trying to create momentum on the basepaths, the Penguins couldn't overcome the early deficit.
Clark's pitching duo of Lily Ferres and Isabella Weibe battled through heavy offensive pressure. Ferres, the starter, faced 27 batters and threw 79 pitches across four innings, surrendering 12 hits and nine earned runs. Weibe came in for a clean fifth inning, allowing just one hit and no runs.

Game 2 - In a game that featured 28 combined hits and a furious late-inning rally, the Clark College Penguins showed grit and offensive life but ultimately came up short against Southwestern Oregon in an 11–7 defeat on Tuesday afternoon.
After falling behind 6–0 through four innings, the Penguins came roaring back with a five-run outburst in the sixth to pull within a run. Fueled by timely hitting and aggressive baserunning, Clark gave the visiting Lakers a scare before a late three-run homer sealed the game in Southwestern Oregon's favor.
Sophomore Annali Lindersmith led the offensive charge for Clark, going 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs and a stolen base. Sophia Lawrence and Promise Bond also sparked the offense, each delivering multi-hit performances, with Lawrence adding a double and an RBI. Zoey Mikkelsen made her presence known with a 2-RBI double that jumpstarted the Penguins' big sixth inning.
Clark starter Delaney Bollman showed resilience in the circle, throwing all seven innings and striking out nine despite facing an explosive SWOC lineup that totaled 17 hits. She battled through long innings and high pitch counts (131 pitches), keeping Clark within striking distance until the final frame.
Southwestern Oregon's standout was catcher Mckinlee Wright, who went 3-for-5 with 5 RBIs, including a game-sealing three-run home run in the seventh. Outfielder Giselle Beriault also hurt the Penguins with a triple, double, and three RBIs of her own.
Despite the loss, the Penguins continue to show growth, particularly at the plate, where they tallied 11 hits against a strong pitching duo. The team will look to clean up some defensive miscues and build off the momentum of their late-inning comeback heading into their next contest.
