VANCOUVER, Wash. - Clark Women's Basketball put forth a strong effort on the road but ultimately fell to Clackamas 77-70 in a closely contested matchup. Despite a slow start, the team demonstrated resilience, particularly in the fourth quarter, outscoring Clackamas 29-24 in a late-game push.
The first quarter saw both teams trading baskets, with Clark posting 18 points to Clackamas' 23. The second quarter was more defensively controlled, as Clark held Clackamas to 10 points while adding 12 of its own. However, the third quarter proved challenging, with Clackamas extending its lead behind a 20-point effort compared to Clark's 11.
Clark's offensive production was led by
Mia Hicks-Oliver, who contributed 20 points and 10 rebounds, while
Emily Peabody added 15 points, including the team's lone three-pointer. The team found success inside the paint, scoring 50 of its 70 total points in the interior. However, outside shooting remained a struggle, as Clark converted just 1 of 14 attempts from beyond the arc.
Defensively, Clark forced nine steals and recorded four blocks but struggled on the boards, getting out-rebounded 48-41. Additionally, turnovers (18 total) and foul trouble (21 personal fouls) played a role in limiting offensive rhythm.
Despite the loss, the late-game surge highlighted the team's ability to compete at a high level. Moving forward, Clark will look to build on its fourth-quarter execution while addressing shooting efficiency and defensive rebounding as key areas of focus.
