VANCOUVER, Wash. - The Clark College Penguins showcased their offensive firepower Wednesday night, securing a commanding 91-72 victory over Chemeketa Community College. The home crowd at O'Connell Sports Center was treated to a dominant performance as the Penguins improved their record to 20-8 overall and 11-4 in conference play.
Clark came out firing, establishing a 49-35 halftime lead with a balanced offensive attack and relentless defense. The Penguins controlled the paint throughout the game, scoring an impressive 54 points down low, while also out-rebounding the visiting Storm 46-24.
Leading the charge was
Jackson Esary, who poured in a game-high 31 points, hitting 12 of 26 shots from the field, including three three-pointers. Esary also contributed eight rebounds, three steals, and three assists in an all-around stellar performance.
Guard
Theo McMillan was a force inside, recording a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. McMillan's efficiency in the paint, along with his seven assists, helped Clark maintain a steady offensive rhythm. Noah Toastovrsnik added 13 points and eight rebounds, providing a strong presence on both ends of the floor.
Zion Milare and
Beau Swett chipped in nine and seven points, respectively, while
Sean Pak provided quality minutes off the bench with two points, three rebounds, and two assists.
Chemeketa (8-19, 3-13 conference) struggled to keep pace with Clark's high-octane offense. Despite 27 points from Gabe Wigginton and 15 points from Kenton Wright, the Storm couldn't overcome Clark's inside dominance and efficient shooting. The Penguins shot 47.5% from the field and 88.9% from the free-throw line, converting their opportunities at a high rate.
Clark's largest lead of the game came at the 10:01 mark of the second half when they extended their advantage to 26 points. The Penguins' defense kept the Storm in check, limiting their second-chance points and forcing key turnovers down the stretch.
With the victory, Clark solidifies its standing in conference play and looks to carry this momentum into their next postseason. The Penguins will hit the road for their upcoming contest as they continue their push for a strong finish to the season.
