PORTLAND, Ore. - The Clark College women's basketball team delivered a heart-pounding performance on the road, securing a dramatic 74-73 victory over Portland Community College on Wednesday night at Harold C. Williams Sr. Court.
Trailing for much of the contest, the Penguins showed resilience in the final quarter, outscoring the Panthers 25-17 to complete the comeback win.
Peabody's Career Night Fuels Penguins' Victory
Clark's offensive charge was led by
Emily Peabody who put on a sensational scoring display, finishing with 37 points including six three-pointers and a nearly perfect 7-of-8 performance from the free-throw line. Peabody also contributed nine rebounds and a crucial block in the fourth quarter to keep the Penguins in the game.
Alongside Peabody's stellar showing,
Promise Bond (10 points, 6 rebounds)Â and
Jayda Jackson (10 points, 6 rebounds)Â provided key contributions on both ends of the court.
Mia Hicks-Oliver stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals, making her presence felt in every facet of the game.
Clark's Defensive Stand in the Final Minutes
Portland took a nine-point lead early in the fourth quarter, but Clark refused to back down. The Penguins tightened their defense, limiting the Panthers to just 17 fourth-quarter points while forcing crucial turnovers.
Clark held Portland to just 30.8% shooting from the field and 22.9% from three-point range, contesting shots and dominating the rebounding battle with a 61-48 advantage.
Ella Botnar anchored the paint, swatting four shots and grabbing seven boards to protect the Penguins' lead.
