VANCOUVER, Wash. - The Clark College Penguins put forth a determined effort but ultimately fell short against the Umpqua Riverhawks, dropping the contest 82-71. Despite a strong first half, Clark was unable to keep pace with Umpqua's offensive efficiency down the stretch.
The Penguins started strong, posting 17 points in the first quarter and outscoring Umpqua 24-19 in the second to take a narrow lead into halftime. However, Umpqua responded with a 21-point third quarter and maintained control in the fourth, securing the win.
Emily Peabody led the way for Clark with 21 points and five rebounds, while
Jayda Jackson added a double-double with 15 points, 12 rebounds, and four steals.
Payton Allen contributed an efficient 13 points, hitting all five of her shot attempts, including three from beyond the arc.
Clark showed strength in the paint, scoring 46 points inside, but struggled to keep Umpqua off the boards, losing the rebounding battle 57-35. Umpqua's Brooklyn Fely proved to be a difference-maker, posting a dominant 35-point, 19-rebound performance.
Despite the loss, the Penguins remain focused on finishing the season strong as they look ahead to their next matchup.
