VANCOUVER, Wash. - The Clark College Penguins fought valiantly on the road but ultimately fell to Umpqua Community College, 81-68. Despite a strong offensive push in the second half, the early deficit proved too much to overcome.
Clark started slowly, scoring 28 points in the first half while Umpqua built a commanding lead with 42. The Penguins responded with a 40-point second-half effort, but Umpqua's efficient shooting and dominance on the boards secured their victory.
Standout Performances:
- Theo McMillan led the Penguins with an impressive 21 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists, keeping Clark in the fight.
- Jackson Esary contributed 18 points and eight rebounds, playing a key role on both ends of the floor.
- Beau Swett provided a defensive spark with five steals while adding 14 points.
Clark was aggressive in the paint, scoring 32 points inside, but struggled with efficiency, shooting 37% from the field and just 44% from the free-throw line. Umpqua capitalized on their opportunities, shooting 53.4% overall and sinking crucial free throws down the stretch.
With the loss, Clark moves to
17-7 overall and 9-3 in conference play. The Penguins will look to bounce back in their next at Portland as they continue their push toward the postseason.
