OLYMPIA, WA — A fast start and a sturdy back line carried Clark College to a 2–0 NWAC West victory over South Puget Sound on Wednesday afternoon at the Regional Athletic Complex.
The Penguins struck twice before halftime to seize control. In the 36th minute, Zaiah Menlove opened the scoring with her first goal as a Penguin to put Clark ahead 1–0. Just before the break, Isabel McCauley doubled the lead with a strike in stoppage time, giving Clark a comfortable 2–0 advantage at the half.
Clark (4–2–2 overall, 3–2–2 NWAC West) outshot the Clippers 11–4 and placed eight shots on goal, keeping steady pressure throughout the match. Menlove and McCauley each finished with a goal on a combined three shots, while Bellaliis Town added three shots — two on target — to help fuel the attack.
Defensively, goalkeeper Ella Lulich recorded the shutout with one save, sharing duties briefly with Jessica Garcia Cruz. The Penguins' back line, anchored by Gabriela Suarez-Luna, Madeline Johnson, and Isabel Zubiria, limited South Puget Sound (2–10–1, 0–6–1) to just one shot on goal.
Clark's victory extends its road unbeaten streak to four matches and solidifies its spot in the NWAC West playoff chase. The Penguins head back up north to play Tacoma on Saturday in another key conference matchup.
