Penguins Suffer Narrow 1–0 Loss at Tacoma

TACOMA, Wash. — Despite an outstanding defensive effort and a season-best 12 saves from freshman goalkeeper Ella Lulich, the Clark College women's soccer team fell 1–0 to Tacoma Community College on Saturday afternoon in Northwest Athletic Conference play.

Tacoma broke through in the 49th minute when Madison Coulter scored off an assist from Amelia Recardo, but Lulich and the Penguins' back line refused to break again, turning aside wave after wave of Titan pressure.

Clark (4–3–2) limited Tacoma's attack to a single goal despite being outshot 24–4. Lulich was a wall in net, making six saves in each half to keep the Penguins within striking distance. The defense, anchored by Gabriela Suarez-Luna, Madeline Johnson, Isabel Zubiria, and Isabel McCauley, stood tall against 15 shots on goal and eight Tacoma corner kicks.

Offensively, Bella Rodriguez led the charge with two shots, one on target, while McCauley and Bellaliis Town each added quality scoring chances for Clark.

The Penguins nearly found an equalizer midway through the second half when McCauley's strike from distance forced Tacoma keeper Olivia Meyer to make a diving save.

Clark will look to build on its strong defensive showing when it returns home next week to host Pierce on Wednesday and continue NWAC West Region play.
