VANCOUVER, Wash. — October 17, 2025 — The Clark College volleyball team turned in one of its most competitive efforts of the conference season Friday night, battling Southwestern Oregon in three tightly contested sets before falling 23-25, 24-26, 25-27 at their home away from home this season, the Washington State School for the Deaf.
Clark controlled long stretches of play behind a balanced attack and a strong defensive outing. The Penguins out-dug the Lakers 44–37 and out-blocked them 7.0 to 4.0, showcasing one of their most disciplined performances at the net this fall.
Freshman outside hitter Mia Hicks-Oliver paced the offense with 9 kills, while freshman right-side Abigail Heberle added 8 kills and hit .217 in her most efficient outing of the season.
Middle blocker Kylie Miller chipped in 7 kills and led all players with 5 total blocks, sparking the Penguins' front-row defense.
Setter Taylee Wilson orchestrated the attack with 31 assists she is 23 assists away from breaking the career assist record at Clark. Wilson's precise distribution helped four different Clark hitters record 7 or more points.
Clark's back row provided steady coverage throughout the match, extending rallies and forcing Southwestern Oregon into extended possessions.

All three sets featured late scoring ties and momentum swings. Clark held leads deep into the first and third sets and pulled even at 24–24 in the second before Southwestern Oregon closed each frame with narrow margins.
The Penguins return to WSSD tomorrow, Saturday, as they host Rogue (17-4, 9-0) at 2:00 PM.
