VANCOUVER, Wash. — The Clark College women's soccer team controlled much of the tempo Wednesday afternoon but couldn't find the back of the net, falling 1–0 to Pierce College at Kim Christensen Field.
Clark outshot Pierce 16–7, including seven shots on goal, and generated five corner kicks to the Raiders' three. The Penguins' offense kept steady pressure on Pierce throughout both halves, led by Bella Rodriguez, who tallied a team-high six shots with four on frame. Bellaliis Town and Lainey Haden each added three shots, while Isabel McCauley contributed two, keeping the Pierce defense busy all game.
Goalkeeper Ella Lulich anchored the Penguins on the defensive end, recording six saves over 90 minutes. Her biggest stops came in the first half, when she turned away four shots to keep the game level heading into halftime.
Pierce broke through late in the match with a goal from Kameryn Norton in the 82nd minute — the lone score of the contest.
Clark showed discipline in midfield play and ball control but couldn't convert opportunities into goals. The Penguins were issued two yellow cards in the match, to Isabel Zubiria (41') and Bellaliis Town (90').
With the result, Clark moves to 4–4–2 overall and in conference play. The Penguins will look to rebound when they hit the road for their next NWAC matchup Saturday at Centralia (5-2-3, 4-2-3 WEST).
