TACOMA, Wash. — Despite a strong showing on both ends of the pitch, the Clark College men's soccer team came up short in a 2–0 road loss to Tacoma on Saturday afternoon in NWAC West Region play.
Clark controlled large stretches of possession and outshot the Titans 12–7, but Tacoma capitalized on its few chances to net a goal in each half. The Penguins' defense, led by veterans Jon Walczyk, Isaiah Bunda, and Hakim Keita, held firm for much of the match, limiting Tacoma to just three shots on goal.
Offensively, Milos Mavrak was Clark's most dangerous threat, firing three shots — two on frame — while Lucas Mallett generated chances from set pieces, recording four corner kicks and a pair of shots. Patrick Murphy played the full 90 minutes in goal for Clark, making a key first-half save.
Tacoma's Davyd Fedina broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute with help from Kuan-Lin Chen, then added his second goal midway through the second half to secure the result.
Clark continued to press late, with Keita, Matt Browning, and Kaito Thammavong each testing the Tacoma keeper, but the Penguins couldn't find the back of the net.
With the loss, Clark drops to 6-2-3 in league play, but will look to regroup at home next week as they face Pierce on Wednesday at 2pm.
