VANCOUVER, Wash. - The Clark College men's basketball team faced a tough 89-70 loss at home against Portland on Wednesday. Despite their best efforts, the Penguins couldn't overcome a second-half surge from the visitors.
Clark started the game strong, maintaining a competitive pace in the first half and scoring 37 points. However, the second half saw Portland pull away, outscoring Clark by 17 points and sealing their win.
Clark's standout performers included
Terrell Moorer Jr., who led the team with 16 points and 6 rebounds, and
Anthony Sprauer, who contributed an efficient 19 points and 5 rebounds.
Theo McMillan added 13 points and 6 assists, playing a crucial role in keeping the Penguins within reach during key stretches.
As a team, the Penguins displayed flashes of brilliance in the paint, scoring 38 points inside, but their struggles from the field (36.1%) and three-point range (35.7%) made it hard to sustain momentum. Portland, by comparison, shot a scorching 50.7% from the field and 44.4% from beyond the arc.
Clark now looks ahead to its next game, where they'll aim to bounce back and climb the standings.
