VANCOUVER, Wash. - In an electrifying road victory, the Clark College men's basketball team unleashed an offensive masterclass to defeat Linn-Benton 100-83 Monday evening at LBCC. The win showcased the Penguins' efficient scoring and ability to dominate in the paint, pushing their record to an impressive 12-5 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
From the opening tip, Clark's aggressive approach was on display. The Penguins tallied 51 points in a high-paced first half, building an early cushion that only widened in the second. Fueled by standout performances across the roster, Clark hit 57.1% of their shots from the field, including a game-high 23 points from
Theo McMillan. McMillan's inside presence was unmatched, as he shot an efficient 11-for-15 while grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out 12 assists.
Terrell Moorer Jr. and
Jackson Esary joined McMillan in pacing the Penguins' offense, each contributing 15 points. Moorer Jr. added seven rebounds and made crucial plays inside the arc, while Esary used his versatility to notch eight boards, three steals, and two blocks, anchoring the defensive effort.
The Penguins' relentless energy on both ends of the court overwhelmed Linn-Benton. Clark's defense forced 16 turnovers and recorded nine blocks, creating opportunities for fast breaks and second-chance points. Despite committing 14 turnovers of their own, the Penguins capitalized on 17 points from turnovers and outscored the Roadrunners 56-38 in the paint.
Clark's bench provided a significant lift with 26 points, including 11 from sharpshooter
Beau Swett, who knocked down three three-pointers in a red-hot second half. Noah Toastovrsnik also chipped in seven points, demonstrating the Penguins' depth.
Though Linn-Benton stayed competitive early, scoring 44 first-half points and closing within single digits in moments of the second, they couldn't contain Clark's balanced attack. The Roadrunners leaned heavily on Liam Spencer's 19 points and Cade Smith's 16, but Clark's defensive adjustments in the latter half stymied their rhythm.
The Penguins will aim to carry this momentum into their next game as they prepare to defend their strong standing in conference play. With a versatile and dynamic roster firing on all cylinders, Clark has its sights set on a deep postseason run.
