Penguins Dominate Saints in Commanding Victory

Recapping tonights action against Mt. Hood

VANCOUVER, Wash. - On a chilly evening, the Clark College Penguins roared to a commanding 100-52 victory against the Mt. Hood Saints in a Northwest Athletic Conference league game at the O'Connell Sports Center.

The Penguins, improving to a 9-7 season record and 1-2 in league play, showcased relentless energy on both ends of the court. Leading the way was sophomore standout Emily Peabody, who contributed a remarkable 19 points, 5 rebounds, 6 steals, and a block. The Penguins' defense was impenetrable, forcing 51 turnovers, with 34 resulting from steals.

Clark established dominance early, scoring 22 points in the first quarter while limiting the Saints to 19. The second quarter saw the home team press the gas, outscoring Mt. Hood 27-6, setting the tone with tenacious defense and high-energy transition play.

Freshman Jayda Jackson emerged as an offensive powerhouse with 18 points on 9-of-14 shooting, along with 3 rebounds and 8 steals. Reserve Miranda Gonzalez added critical support, dropping 15 points off the bench while facilitating the ball with 4 assists. The Penguins' bench depth shined, contributing a hefty 41 points.

Clark's domination of the paint was another key narrative, with a 54-30 advantage in points scored in the lane. Defensive rebounds and second-chance opportunities added another layer to their tactical victory.

On the opposing side, the Saints struggled to find their rhythm and fell to 1-10 overall and 0-4 in league play. Despite their difficulties, Gabby Perez led Mt. Hood with 10 points and 3 steals.

Clark College's next challenge is on Friday night against Lane Community College, where they aim to ride this momentum and climb the conference standings.
