LONGVIEW, Wash. - In a closely contested game at Myklebust Stadium on the campus of Lower Columbia, Walla Walla emerged victorious with a 60-47 win over Clark College. The match showcased defensive grit, strategic plays, and standout performances from both sides.

Walla Walla's strong start in the first quarter set the tone, outscoring Clark 19-13. Brielle Magnuson was instrumental for Walla Walla, leading all scorers with 22 points, including four three-pointers. Magnuson also contributed with seven rebounds and five assists, making her a key playmaker throughout the game.

Clark struggled offensively, shooting just 27.3% from the field. Despite the offensive woes, Mia Hicks-Oliver delivered an impressive performance, scoring 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting, with two three-pointers and three steals.

Clark's bench provided little relief, contributing only 11 points compared to Walla Walla's 20. Defensive rebounds played a significant role in Walla Walla's victory, as they grabbed 32 defensive boards compared to Clark's 25.

A pivotal moment came in the fourth quarter when Walla Walla extended their lead to 18 points, the largest of the game, with just over four minutes remaining. Clark attempted a late-game rally led by Ella Botnar's aggressive play in the paint, but it wasn't enough to bridge the gap.

The loss puts Clark's record at 6-4, while Walla Walla improves to 8-2. 

Next up the penguins will face Shoreline on Sunday, December 29th at 12:00pm in day two of the LCC Holiday Classic.
