Men's Basketball Comes Close but Falls Short in Neutral Site Thriller Against Tacoma

Recapping this morning's action against Tacoma

VANCOUVER, Wash. - In a high-energy matchup played at TVCC on December 15, the Clark College Men's Basketball team showed resilience but ultimately fell short against Tacoma, 100-95. Despite their efforts, the Penguins (7-2) couldn't overcome the relentless pace and efficient shooting of Tacoma (8-0).

The game opened with Clark finding success early, holding a narrow three-point lead within the first two minutes of the game. Sophomore standout Terrell Moorer Jr. led Clark's scoring efforts with an impressive 34-point performance on 15-of-24 shooting. Moorer also contributed five rebounds, two assists, and four steals in his 36 minutes on the court, further establishing himself as a key contributor for the Penguins.

Clark made a strong push in the second half, outscoring Tacoma 58-51, showcasing remarkable determination and offensive execution. Jackson Esary supported Moorer's efforts with a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Meanwhile, Theo McMillan filled the stat sheet with 13 points, four rebounds, and seven assists.

Despite these efforts, Tacoma's balanced attack and dominance in the paint proved to be the deciding factor. Chae Haynes of Tacoma led their charge with 26 points and an astounding 21 rebounds, cementing his presence on both ends of the court. Clark's defense struggled to contain Trey Knight, who chipped in 31 points for Tacoma, particularly in key moments of the game.

The game highlighted Clark's balanced scoring with contributions from Anthony Sprauer (12 points and five rebounds) and Beau Swett (11 points with three triples). However, missed opportunities at the free-throw line (50% shooting) were costly in the tight affair. The Penguins also trailed in rebounding, recording 26 boards to Tacoma's 39, a margin that helped Tacoma secure the win.

The Penguins will look to bounce back and carry the positives from this performance into their next contest as they continue their season-long pursuit of growth and success.
