VANCOUVER, Wash. - In a clash that kept fans on the edge of their seats, Clark narrowly defeated Highline with a final score of 3-2. The game, played at an intense pace from start to finish, showcased both teams' determination and skill.
The first half remained goalless despite several close calls from both sides. Highline's Mason Averill and Clark's Jake Bilsborough made critical saves to keep the score level. The defensive efforts were complemented by aggressive play, leading to multiple cautions including yellow cards for Christian Silva of Clark and Mykah Harris of Highline.
The second half exploded into action when JP Warnell broke the deadlock for Clark in the 57th minute, assisted by Abraham Alvarez-Castro. Highline responded swiftly with Mason Abdella converting a penalty kick in the 64th minute, leveling the score at 1-1.
The match intensified as Milos Mavrak put Clark back in the lead with a goal in the 75th minute, assisted by Randy Valdivia. Christian Silva extended Clark's lead in the 83rd minute with a well-taken goal, assisted again by JP Warnell, making it 3-1.
Highline fought back valiantly in the closing minutes, and Mason Abdella converted another penalty kick deep into stoppage time, but it wasn't enough to equalize. Despite their efforts, Clark held on for the 3-2 victory.
The game was marked by equal shots on goal from both teams (12 each), showcasing the competitiveness and offensive prowess of both squads. Clark's defense, anchored by Jake Bilsborough's crucial saves, played a pivotal role in securing their undefeated record.
With this result, Clark maintains their strong position atop the standings, while Highline looks to regroup and build on their performance as they continue their season.
Next up, the penguins travel to Centralia on Saturday, October 12 to take on the trailblazers (2-10-2, 2-6-1) at Bob Peters field. Kickoff is set for 2:15pm.
