VANCOUVER, Wash. - In a decisive showdown at Vancouver, WA, the Clark College soccer team capped off their regular season with a commanding 5-1 victory over Centralia College. The match highlighted Clark's offensive prowess and showcased their top players, particularly Randy Valdivia, who netted two goals and provided an assist.
First Half: Clark Sets the Tone
From the opening whistle, Clark took control of the match, launching a barrage of shots that kept Centralia's defense on high alert. After several near misses, the pressure paid off in the 18th minute when Valdivia found the back of the net with an assist from Abraham Alvarez-Cast. Centralia struggled to generate offensive momentum, registering only two shots in the first half, one of which hit the post early on.
The half ended with Clark ahead 1-0, having racked up a remarkable 18 shots, demonstrating their attacking dominance. Centralia's goalkeeper, Neftali Arellano, was kept busy, making seven crucial saves to keep the game within reach for his team.
Second Half: Clark's Firepower Unleashed
The second half saw Clark continue their onslaught. Just minutes in, Reece Jones doubled the lead in the 52nd minute, solidifying Clark's control of the match. Valdivia struck again in the 70th minute, followed shortly by a goal from Alvarez-Cast, with Milos Mavrak providing the assist.
As the game progressed, Clark seemed relentless. Trenten Harker added the fifth goal in the 86th minute, assisted by Valdivia, before Centralia finally broke through with a consolation goal from Jamison Perkins in the closing moments of the match.
