Volleyball Falls to Lane Titans on the Road

Eugene, Oregon – Lane College emerged victorious over Clark College, winning in three sets with scores of 25-21, 28-26, and 25-12. The match showcased a blend of tenacity and skill from both teams, but it was Lane's powerful offensive performance that ultimately secured their win.

From the onset, the match was characterized by intense rallies and competitive spirit. Clark began strong, battling through the first set with noteworthy contributions from Ruby Ochoa, who led her team with 15 kills, despite a .238 hitting percentage. Ochoa's efforts kept the match close, but Lane's solid defense and effective serves turned the tide. Lane's Kadence Soto orchestrated the offense with 32 assists, allowing her teammates to capitalize on scoring opportunities.

The second set was a nail-biter, as both teams exchanged points in a thrilling back-and-forth. Clark fought valiantly, with key plays from Sydney George and Kylie Miller, but Lane's offensive depth proved too much. Trinidy Blanton shone for Lane, scoring 11 kills, while her team maintained pressure with a .258 hitting percentage. Despite Clark's resilience, they fell short, losing the set 28-26 after an extended battle.

In the third set, Lane took control early, showcasing their strength and depth. The combination of Ashlynn Medlock and Chloe Hueth helped pull Lane ahead decisively. Medlock's contributions included nine kills, while Hueth added another seven, both proving instrumental in their team's offensive strategy. Clark struggled to maintain their momentum, only managing 12 points in the set as Lane closed the match with confidence.

Defensively, Lane was relentless, racking up 71 digs, led by Mirra Riddle with a standout performance in the back row. Lane's blocks, primarily from Trinidy Blanton, were pivotal in neutralizing Clark's attacks, as they recorded 12 team blocks.

With solid performances from both sides, fans can expect more thrilling volleyball action as the teams continue to battle in the coming weeks as final seeding in the conference continues to get determined.

Next up for the penguins, they host Clackamas on Wednesday, October 30 in the O'Connell Sports Center.
