VANCOUVER, Wash. - Clark College defeated Grays Harbor 10-0 on Saturday, in game one, as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout.
Spencer McGuire struck out Vine-close to finish off the game.
The penguins secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the third inning. Clark batters contributing to the big inning included
Justin Willis,
Canon Humphreys,
Nick Laurenza, and
Caden Parker, all knocking in runs in the inning.
A single by Roundy in the fifth inning was a positive for the chokers.
Eddie Dwyer was credited with the victory for the penguins . The right hander allowed two hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out seven. McGuire threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Roundy took the loss for grays harbor. Roundy surrendered seven runs on eight hits over three innings, striking out five and walking one.
Clark College scattered ten hits in the game.
Taydem Neal,
Josh Schleichardt, Parker, and Humphreys all managed multiple hits for the penguins . Humphreys, Parker, Schleichardt, and Neal each collected two hits to lead Clark. The penguins tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Schleichardt led the way with two. Clark College was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error.
Jewell Williams made the most plays with eight.
