Story by Tim Melcher
The men's cross-country team went out on the road to Clackamas Community College in Oregon City, Oregon on Saturday, November 2nd and competed in the Northwest Athletic Conference South Region Championships.Â
The team came away with an impressive 2nd place overall finish among the 6 South Region teams competing. The penguins finished behind Lane Community College of Eugene. Lane is the defending three time NWAC Champions and reigning South Region champions so finishing behind them in only 9 minutes of total team time is a great accomplishment for Head Coach Bob Williams and his penguin runners.
The penguins were led by impressive performances from sophomore
Micah Goff, who finished 9th overall with a time of 27:01.3. Freshman
Evans Kaame finished 11th with a time just behind Goff of 27:31.1.Â
Freshman
Marcus Hernandez's 16th place finish, sophomore
Aaron Avery's 23rd place finish and freshman
Isaac Lozier's 24th place finish all got points for Clark.
The penguins will continue to train and heal up, as some of the penguin runners are battling injuries and could not run in the South Region Championships. There final race of the season is the Northwest Athletic Conference Championships on Monday, November 18th in Lacey, Washington at beautiful St. Martins University.Â
