Story by Tim Melcher

The men's cross country team had a solid finish at the Lewis and Clark Invitational on Saturday, October 19th. The penguins finished 11th in the event and 2nd overall among the 3 Northwest Athletic Conference schools in attendance.

The penguins were led around the 8K course at Milo McIver State Park in Estacada, Oregon by sophomore Micah Goff. Goff, out of Union High School, finished 42nd out of 119 racers with a time of 26:39.6. Finishing right behind Goff, literally .02 seconds behind him, was freshman Evans Kaame, finishing in 43rd place. Kaame, racing in only his second race of the season due to injury,  finished the course in 26:39.8.

The penguins had solid showings from two others as well. Marcus Hernandez, the freshman out of Pasco, Washington finished in 71st with a time of 27:40.4. Sophomore Aaron Avery also out of Union High School, finished in 78th place with a time of 27:52.2.

The penguins now look forward to the Southern Regional Championships coming up on November 2nd in Clackamas, Oregon and then the NWAC Championships on November 18th in Lacey, Washington.
