Coach Dunn is in his 11th season behind the reigns of the head coaching position.
Mark Dunn recently accepted the job as Clark College women's volleyball head coach. Dunn comes to the Penguin Nation after serving as an assistant coach on Kip Yoshimura’s staff at Pacific University Oregon.
Dunn most recently served as a club coach with the Athena Volleyball Academy, led by former Pacific Head Coach Lena Chan, where he worked with an 18-year-old competitive squad. Prior to his move to the Portland area, Dunn coached the 2010 season with the men’s volleyball club program at Sonoma State. He led the Seawolves to the National Collegiate Volleyball Foundation’s Division II national championship.
Much of Dunn’s professional career has spent as a high school educator and coach. He spent from 2005-10 at Vintage High School in Napa, Calif., where he was the head men’s track and field coach and the assistant head volleyball coach. Dunn spent the previous six years across town at Justin-Siena High School, where he was a head coach in both baseball and girls’ basketball.
All three of the Dunn’s daughters have gone on to play collegiate volleyball and all at a different NCAA divisional level. Middle daughter Melissa played at Pacific from 2005 to 2008. His oldest daughter, Heather, played four seasons at Division I Gonzaga while youngest daughter Stephanie played for Division II Sonoma State.
A veteran of the United States Navy, Dunn is also employed as a mathematics instructor at Portland Community College. He earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics in 1999 and his master’s degree in educational leadership in 2008, both from Sonoma State. Dunn resides in Hillsboro, with his wife, Marie, who is active in the area as a club and college volleyball official.
