Christian Igielinski

Christian Igielinski

Christian Igielinski joins the Penguin cross country and track program as the sprints and hurdles coach after coaching cross country and track and field in the Vancouver area over the last five years. He has coached at local middle and high schools including Fort Vancouver High and Skyview High Schools, as well as Gaiser Middle School. In his first year with the Penguins, Igielinski saw his athletes in the long sprints and hurdle events accomplish a long list of accolades, including 8 All-Conference performances, 3 All-American performances, 2 Clark top 10 all time performances, and 1 Conference champion. While growing up in Gowanda, New York, Igielinski competed in both cross country and track and field in high school. He later attended SUNY Geneseo where he majored in mathematics and competed on the track and field team. While he specialized in the 400m hurdles, he ran events from the 200m all the way to the 800m. “Coach Igielinski is such an important part of our coaching staff,” said Clark cross country and track head coach Owen Frasier. “I’ve known of him since he started coaching in the area a few years ago, and he’s earned a reputation for being someone that puts his student-athletes’ needs first, and is 100% focused on development.  Not only is he great at helping them get faster on the track, his knowledge and commitment to using the weight room to improve is something that fits with our values.  Our sprints and hurdles group is very fortunate to be coached by him.” Igielinski is still an active runner in the Portland running community. He loves running with the different running communities in the area and has raced distances from a mile to 15k. Igielinski is currently a teacher at Gaiser Middle School and lives in Portland, Oregon.
