Game Recap: Softball |

# 1 Mt. Hood Sweeps Clark

GRESHAM, OR - Clark College's softball team wrapped up a tough road doubleheader at Mt. Hood on April 4, showing flashes of power but struggling to contain one of the Northwest's top offenses.

In the first game, Clark fell 14–2. The Penguins got on the board early with a second-inning home run by Rylee Purdom, but Mt. Hood exploded for seven runs in the second inning and another seven in the third, highlighted by multiple extra-base hits and home runs. Delaney Bollman added a solo homer in the fourth to account for Clark's second run. The Penguins managed four hits overall, with Rylee Purdom and Bollman providing the team's offensive highlights, but defensive miscues allowed Mt. Hood to rack up big innings.

Game two saw more of the same, as Clark battled to keep pace in a 10–2 loss. Mt. Hood got out to an early 5–0 lead in the first inning thanks to a four-run homer by Sadie Guyette and timely hitting from Abigail Huspek and Ambur Livingston. Clark responded in the third inning with a two-run homer from Purdom, scoring Jessica Tomberlin as well, but Mt. Hood added five more runs over the first, second, and fifth innings to seal the win. Clark finished with seven hits, highlighted by Purdom's two-run homer, and a combined pitching effort from Delaney Bollman, Tessa Treesh, and Kairi Rowand.

Despite the sweep, Clark showed resilience at the plate, with Purdom emerging as the standout performer across both games, driving in four of the team's six runs. The Penguins will look to tighten up defensively and convert timely hitting into more scoring opportunities as they move forward in conference play.

Clark's record now stands at 6–20 overall, and while the Mt. Hood doubleheader was a challenging test, the team gained valuable experience against a dominant opponent.
