Penguins Drop Key Game to Linn-Benton

ALBANY -

The Clark College women's basketball team battled on the glass all night but struggled to find offensive rhythm in a 76–58 loss to Linn-Benton Community College.

Despite the final score, Clark dominated the rebounding battle, pulling down 59 total boards, including a remarkable 32 offensive rebounds that kept possessions alive throughout the contest.

Emily Peabody led the Penguins on the glass with a double-double effort of 11 points and 12 rebounds, eight of them offensive. Reaiah Hall added 14 points and eight rebounds, attacking the paint and converting 7-of-8 from the free-throw line. Mia Hicks-Oliver contributed 10 points, eight rebounds, two assists and a block, while Ashley Serna provided a major lift off the bench with 12 rebounds, seven coming on the offensive end.

Clark's defensive activity also stood out. The Penguins recorded 11 steals and five blocks, including four steals from April Cruz and a pair of blocks from Serna. Yazmin Rios chipped in 12 points and three steals, helping spark energy on both ends.

However, the difference came in shooting efficiency. Clark shot 22.5 percent from the field and 3-of-24 from beyond the arc, while Linn-Benton connected at a 38.5 percent clip and placed four players in double figures. Lainie Bateman led the Roadrunners with 28 points and 11 rebounds.

Even with the offensive struggles, Clark's relentless work on the boards and defensive intensity kept the game competitive for stretches. The Penguins generated extra chances throughout the night, but were unable to convert consistently enough to close the gap.

Clark will look to build on its rebounding dominance and defensive pressure as it prepares for its next matchup, aiming to turn second-chance opportunities into points and regain offensive rhythm.
