Gresham, Ore. - Clark College men's basketball secured a hard-fought 64–61 victory over Mt. Hood on Wednesday afternoon, leaning on balanced contributions and timely defensive stops to improve to 11–6 overall and 3–1 in NWAC play.
The Penguins built a nine-point advantage at halftime, carrying a 43–34 lead into the break after an efficient opening 20 minutes on both ends of the floor. Clark controlled the glass early and capitalized on second-chance opportunities to establish momentum.
Mt. Hood made a push in the second half, outscoring Clark 27–21, but the Penguins responded with poise down the stretch. Clark's defense held firm in the closing minutes, limiting clean looks and forcing key stops to preserve the three-point win.
Clark showcased a balanced effort across the lineup, with multiple players contributing on the boards and in the assist column. The Penguins were active defensively, recording blocks and steals while contesting shots throughout the contest. Clark also made the most of its opportunities at the free-throw line in crucial moments late.
Samuel Malm anchored Clark inside with a strong rebounding performance, while Ari Richardson logged heavy minutes and contributed across the stat sheet, including assists and defensive plays. Zion Milare added energy on both ends, helping Clark maintain pressure throughout the game.
Clark returns to action later this week as they travel to Umpqua (15-1, 3-0) for their fifth road game in a row, to kick of southern region play.
