Clark Rallies Past Lane in Four Sets

EUGENE, Ore. – Clark College shook off a slow start to storm back and defeat Lane Community College in four sets (12-25, 25-17, 25-21, 27-25) on Thursday evening in NWAC volleyball action.  After dropping the opening set 25-12, the Penguins regrouped behind a balanced attack and gritty defense to take the next three frames and secure the road victory.

Sophomore Abigail Heberle led the way offensively with a match-high 15 kills on an efficient .325 hitting percentage, powering Clark through crucial rallies in the second and third sets. Gabriela Sideris chipped in 8 kills and 11 digs, while Kylie Miller added 7 kills and three block assists to help slow Lane's hitters.  The defensive effort was anchored by Emelynn Cecil and Taylee Wilson, who each tallied 25 digs, frustrating Lane's attack down the stretch. Wilson also quarterbacked the offense with 26 assists and added three service aces.  Clark's ability to dig in defensively proved to be the difference, as the Penguins out-dug the Titans 85–81 and held Lane to just a .076 hitting percentage despite Lane's strong opening frame.

With the win, Clark picked up its first South Region victory and showed the resilience they'll need as they head into the heart of NWAC play.  The Penguins next take the court at home against #10 ranked Clackamas on Tuesday, September 30th, at 6pm.
