Clark Splits with Centralia at Newly Dedicated Raines Field

VANCOUVER, Wash. - Game 1 - Centralia erupted for 13 runs on 14 hits to defeat Clark College 13-3 at the Penguins' home field, Raines Field. It was a statement win for the Trailblazers, who improved their season at 11-22 with an offensive explosion, including a pair of home runs from shortstop G. Bonney-Sp and left fielder C. White.

Centralia scored in five of the game's seven innings and put the contest away with a five-run seventh inning that was capped by Bonney-Sp's second homer of the day, a three-run blast to left. The freshman shortstop finished 2-for-3 with 5 RBIs, two runs scored, and a walk in what was easily his best outing of the season.

Centralia starter A. Hernandez went the distance, tossing a complete-game three-hitter with six strikeouts and five walks. Hernandez also helped his own cause at the plate, going 2-for-4 and scoring a run.

Clark (11-23) managed just three hits on the day, with their only offense coming in the fifth inning when Gabriela Ventura drilled a three-run home run to left after a pair of Trailblazer errors extended the inning. Ventura finished 1-for-4 with all three of Clark's RBIs.

The Trailblazers set the tone early, scoring in each of the first four innings, including a two-run homer from White in the fourth that gave them a 7-0 lead. White was a force from the No. 2 spot, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBIs, a walk, and a stolen base.

Clark's pitching struggled throughout, issuing seven walks and allowing 14 hits. Starter Lily Ferres took the loss, giving up seven runs (four earned) on seven hits over 3.2 innings. Zoey Mikkelsen gave up five runs in relief during the decisive seventh inning.

Every Centralia starter reached base at least once, with key contributions from N. Loose (1-for-3, double, RBI, 2 BB), G. Schofield (2-for-3, double, walk, RBI), and J. Luis (2-for-5, 2 RBIs).

Game 2 - Clark College earned a gritty 7-5 win over Centralia on Friday evening, powered by a standout all-around performance from starting pitcher Delaney Bollman and timely production throughout the lineup.

Bollman went the distance in the circle, tossing a complete game while allowing just two earned runs on eight hits with one strikeout. The freshman also played a key role offensively, reaching base four times, doubling in a run, stealing a base, and scoring three times to spark the Penguins' offense.

After Centralia jumped out to a 5-3 lead in the third inning—bolstered by a two-run homer from R. Gray—Clark responded with two runs in the fourth to tie the game. Gabriela Ventura delivered a clutch two-run single to even the score, part of her 2-for-4 day with three RBIs.

The go-ahead run came in the fifth when Ashley Griffith stole third and scored on a wild pitch, giving Clark a 6-5 lead. An insurance run in the sixth on another wild pitch, following a Bollman walk and Ventura double, helped seal the win.

Clark showed patience at the plate, drawing nine walks and capitalizing on key Centralia miscues, including two errors and multiple wild pitches. The Penguins also displayed poise defensively, stranding eight Centralia runners to protect the lead down the stretch.

The penguins will travel to Grays Harbor on May 3rd.  First pitch is scheduled for 12:00PM.
