VANCOUVER, Wash. - Game 1 - The Mt. Hood baseball team proved to be an unstoppable force in a 15-0 win over Clark on Friday afternoon at Raines Field. The game was never in doubt, as Mt. Hood's explosive offense combined with solid pitching led to an easy victory over the struggling Clark team.
The star of the show was undoubtedly K. Dunham, who had a stellar performance, including a three-run home run in the fifth inning. However, it was M. Zachary and S. Hattori who set the tone early, both reaching base multiple times, stealing bases, and scoring runs. The two provided plenty of momentum for the explosive offensive surge.
But the most notable individual performance came from G. Urban, who delivered a near-perfect outing on the mound. Urban (12-1) threw four innings of shutout ball, giving up just five hits while striking out one and walking none. The win was never in jeopardy, thanks to his dominance and efficient pitch count. M. Tovar came on in relief and finished the game with a clean inning, striking out one and allowing no hits.
Clark, on the other hand, struggled to get anything going offensively. They were held to just five hits and couldn't mount a serious challenge. The Clark lineup was stymied by the combination of Urban and Tovar, unable to score a single run.
Clark's standout player was Sophia Lawrence, who had two hits in the game, while Tessa Treesh and Ashley Griffith also added singles. But despite some solid individual efforts, the team's lack of offense left them no chance against Mt. Hood's relentless attack.

Game 2 - The second game was nothing like the first. Behind a strong all-around performance from pitcher
Delaney Bollman, the Clark Penguins (8-16) held off the Mt. Hood Saints (20-4) for a 5-3 win at home on Friday afternoon.
Bollman (3-4) was the story of the game, tossing a complete game while allowing just three runs on six hits, striking out two, and not issuing a single walk. The right-hander also contributed at the plate, going 1-for-3 with an RBI single in Clark's four-run second inning that set the tone for the game.
Clark's offense came alive in that second frame, capitalizing on timely hitting. After Ashley Griffith and Kiarra Webb led off with singles, Clark loaded the bases and pushed across the first run when Annali Lindersmith drew a bases-loaded walk. Gabriela Ventura followed with a clutch two-run double, and Bollman added an RBI single to give the Penguins a 4-0 lead.
Mt. Hood responded with two runs in the third and added another in the fourth on a solo home run by K. Dunham, but Bollman buckled down, shutting the Saints out over the final three innings. Clark tacked on an insurance run in the fifth when Griffith doubled home Promise Bond, providing the final 5-3 margin.
Griffith led the Penguins offensively, going 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored, while Ventura's two-run double proved to be the game's biggest hit.
With the win, Clark earned a confidence-boosting victory as they continue conference play.
The penguins are scheduled to travel up to Des Moines, Washington to take on Highline in a non-conference double-header, Tuesday, April 8th. Â
